new work by keith dippre
We are adding a third piece by Keith to the two already published - Light, SATB and piano and the exciting Mojave Cross, Desert Voices for SATB with piano, timpani, and auxiliary percussion which Keith tells me may be performed without the percussion instruments. The new work is The Fifth Season for SATB and piano. It is the concluding choral fifth piece with well known words from Ecclesiastes 3 v. 1-13 'a time to--' and is preceded by four instrumental pieces. It is characterized by meter changes, edgy harmonies a robust piano part and the composer's favoured 'move along' tempi.
tim cooper
We are happy to offer a new piece by the popular Tim Cooper. Like his Songs of the Sea the new piece Earth Voices is a setting of words by the New Brunswick poet Bliss Carman. This is a beautiful almost mystical work with a harmonic language a little more daring than usual for the composer.
laura silberberg
We are delighted to tell you that we are publishing 6 choral pieces by Laura Silberberg. Laura recently received her doctorate from the University of Toronto but already has a catalogue of fine pieces to her credit. The pieces are Lux Aeterna, for Cello solo, Soprano solo, Counter-tenor (tenor) solo, and SATB; To Spring, for SATB a cappella; and Anima Christi for SATB a cappella. In addition we offer three pieces for TTBB a cappella: Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep, From Stalingrad, and Ubi Caritas. These pieces may be sung in that order as a group of three or individually. All of these pieces can be heard in their entirety in the WORKS section as well as three sample pages of the music. Please email Renforth Music should you wish to preview the full scores. Definitely worth a look and listen!
podium conference
Renforth Music is sponsoring a reading session on May 18 at the 2014 Podium conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The session is for community choir conductors and includes music from the catalogues of Renforth Music, Cypress Music Publishing and Rhythmic Trident.
future works
We will be soon be publishing a set of three commissioned pieces - Come Rest Awhile, Night, and Seawind by Tim Cooper to words by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the creator of Anne of Green Gables as part of the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, which led to the the birth of Canada in 1867. The poetry is quite lovely and as usual Dr Cooper, who now lives in Prince Edward Island captures the moods of these pieces with simple but effective settings that will make this music a pleasure for a wide range of choirs.
new works
We are happy to tell you of two new works by Keith Dippre that are just off the press. Light (SATB with piano) is a commissioned work for the unveiling of a sculpture. It is in the modern idiom but eminently singable. Secondly a fascinating piece for SATB, piano, auxiliary percussion and tympani called Mojave Cross, Desert Voices written to represent this landmark that was built to honour American veterans of World War 1. The music contains a proportional middle section written in non- traditional notation and is an exciting challenge for a semi or full professional group- plus a good piano player and percussion players.
new works
Recent - we are happy to have published 5 pieces by the late Paul Murray. These are Missa Brevis, God be in My Head, Four Short Introits, The Souls of the Righteous, and Be Strong in The Lord which are all in the High Anglican tradition. Another of Paul's pieces Five Seasonal Introits is published by Leslie Music Supply.
